The Winston Solar Car Team represents American high schools in the olympics of solar car racing, the Australian World Solar Challenge.
The Winston Solar Car Team is daring to challenge Australia's famous race across the Outback, a grueling 1800-mile nine day trek. Facing competition from national teams, major corporations, and leading engineering colleges, the 10 Winstons students have raised $125,000 to build their world class car and transport them selves, their gear, and their car 13,000 miles to Darwin, Australia.
The tean introduced their car, AstroPower, to the media on September 18, 2002 at the Winston School, 5707 Royal Lane, Dallas TX 75229(NW corner of Royal Lane and the Dallas North Tollway. You are invited to se the car and meet these exceptional young people and professionalism.
The Winston Team is the same group of young people who hosted this smmer's Winston Solar Challenge at the world famous Texas Motor Speedway. The WSC is the only international high school solar car race in the world. The Winston Team also hosts Winston Science and teaches schools around the world how to build road-worthy solar cars. The students raise the money to support each of these projects.
